Job Description: PURPOSE Perform graphic duties for the Production Department and general administrative and graphic support to the Marketing Department. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP The Production Artist reports directly to the Director of Marketing. The Production Artist has no direct reports. AUTHORITY n/a RESPONSIBLITIES • Create cover designs for various libraries. • Send/ collect artwork files, negatives and proofs to vendors, publications and outside suppliers. Track same items to ensure arrival. • Proof Reading. • Graphics design and production of art for advertisements, mailers, enewsletter, website and other items as requested. • Coordination of product cover art between Executive Producer and Contract Artists, including communicating the assignment, discussing any revisions and making sure deadlines are met. To be coordinated through the Director of Marketing. • Process purchase orders related to graphic and marketing projects and complete related activities as needed. • Digitally archive, organization and structure department files. • Update marketing departmental procedures manual as directed by Director of Marketing as needed. • Coordinate project schedules with Project Coordinator. • General, light administrative support to the Marketing department. • All other graphic and special projects as directed by the Director of Marketing. QUALIFICATIONS • Minimum of 3-5 years experience as a production artist and/or administrative assistant with heavy graphic design experience. • High School Diploma or equivalent. • Computer skills, including but not limited to an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as the Internet and HTML experience. Solid graphic ability with knowledge of MAC and PC based programs including: InDesign, Illustrator and PhotoShop. Other graphic programs such as Dreamweaver and Flash a plus. • Attention to detail; strong organizational and time management skills; ability to work amid distractions and interruptions. • Highly developed problem solving and decision making ability. • Possess good customer service abilities, polite and courteous manner, cooperative attitude, team oriented. • Ability to be flexible, adapt to changing needs/objectives and strong ability to multitask. • Ability to work with little supervision • Ability to communicate and understand English; including reading and writing. • Maintain a professional appearance and appropriate behavior during all work hours as well as business meetings/functions. TASKS • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB – Employees must perform the following (in case of an individual with a disability, with or without reasonable accommodation) Daily • General graphic support to the Marketing department. • Production graphics and design –Production department. • Proof Reading. • Interact with vendors, suppliers and artist. • Monitor department’s art schedule, respond to internal questions. • Coordinate project schedules with Project Coordinator. • Update reports for weekly Production and Marketing meetings. • All other administrative needs and special projects as directed by the Director of Marketing Monthly • Maintain archive of marketing materials including Advertising and Collateral binders. • Coordinate graphic related activities related to the completion of the Updates (includes AMPED eNewsletter and web graphic updates. • Coordinate the submission of ads to trade publications as directed by the Director of Marketing. • Archive completed project’s electronic files as directed by Director of Marketing. • All other administrative needs and special projects as directed by the Director of Marketing Annually • Filing, organization, and structure of department graphic related efiles for the next year. • All other administrative needs and special projects as directed by the Director of Manager • Update departmental procedures manual, as needed. • Create one or more full layouts for product CDs from each of the Libraries. (To stay familiar with all formats.) Additional Responsibilities of Job • Act as an internal customer relations agent between the marketing department and all other departments within the company. • Special projects and requests as needed.
