||Universal Music Group is currently seeking a Director of Sales for the Universal City, CA location.
POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Director of Sales is the point person for the national sales team and most of Fontana’s largest accounts. This person will develop, facilitate and manage the overall marketing, and strategic physical, digital and mobile initiatives for the accounts in their territory. The Director of Sales will manage the new release process for the sales department and create exciting opportunities to help keep Fontana artists a priority and on the radar of applicable UMD staff.
•Primary liaison for all sales, marketing, advertising, online and general promotional activity between Fontana, Fontana labels, UMD staff and accounts.
•Direct and motivate UMD staff assigned to regional accounts
•Discover best ways to integrate Fontana into product tests and new initiative launches
•Manage sales activities as it relates to goals of the company
•Successfully manage relationship with assigned account(s) including verification of launch, product delivery, punctual reporting and on-going partnership maintenance
Director of Sales:
oDirect supervisor of National Account Manager (NAM) team which primarily handles top physical and digital accounts
oDevelop goals for those accounts and individuals with VP/Sales, help oversee Regional Account Manager (RAM) team’s sales activities with Director of Field Sales.
oOversee digital set-up at largest DSPs and mobile accounts with Fontana and UMD staff
oInteract with labels on day-to-day activity and information related to national account activity
oWork with account managers to develop and execute marketing plans that drive sales and placement goals at physical and digital retail
oManage relationships with key national accounts, Fontana and UMD Home Office teams and field staff
oManage advertising, advertising budgets, and advertising planners
oManage Fontana labels’ goals and expectations within the Fontana/UMD system and the marketplace to meet sales volumes expected for new releases
oPoint person for management of physical new release process from initiation through release date
oPoint person for labels and field on sales-related issues
•Regular business hours are 9am-6pm; additions at your discretion based on activities & workload
•Work days during business hours are to be spent in the office focused on work activity
•Respond by set deadlines or negotiate other alternatives well in advance
•The goal for returned phone calls and emails is one day
•Plan regular travel in line with business needs & budget
•Meetings are to be started and attended at scheduled time
•No blackberries in meetings
•Participate in team discussions, actively listen, follow up & execute
•Use the organization structure when escalation is felt to be necessary
•Exercise cost consciousness in all aspects of financial responsibilities

•7-10 years experience in sales, marketing or related home entertainment product or digital field
•Ability to prioritize, multi-task & follow through
•Ability to operate in a highly collaborative manner with colleagues in high-pressure situations
•Strength in creativity and efficient with resources
•Excellent negotiating and people skills
•Polished presentation skills and ability to craft and deliver executive-level presentations
•Solid understanding of sales and marketing in the online space
•Solid understanding of retail fundamentals including inventory and systems management, open to buy, profit margins, etc.
•Solid understanding of online sales and marketing and what drives each
•Solid understanding of what drives the current business environment
•Advanced knowledge of UMD/Fontana policies regarding terms of sales, return procedures, on-going programs, invoicing, pricing and inventory management
•Advanced knowledge of SoundScan, Mediabase; ability to quickly learn new internal systems (Legacy, Fastrac, MusicMart)
