Job Description: Universal Music Distribution Group is currently seeking an E-commerce Integration Specialist for the Universal City, CA office. Reporting to the E-commerce Fulfillment Manager, the E-Commerce Integration Specialist is responsible for ensuring that accurate and complete data is entered in the Repertoire Management System (R2), Music Portal and other metadata-related databases used at Universal Music Group. In order for UMG to sell products over the internet we need to be able to provide all of our assets in a digital form and supply metadata to describe and identify those assets. The E-commerce Integration Specialist will spearhead an effort to research and cleanse the data in various UMG systems so that the data may be syndicated for use in E-commerce activities. This includes analyzing existing data sources and determining their value, creating and upholding data cleansing procedures and standards, researching unresolved data issues, and entering corrections into various systems. In addition, this person will participate in data validation efforts being performed in DAVe (UMG’s Data Access & Validation Engine) as needed. In particular, E-Commerce Integration Specialist will work to support the ongoing digital initiatives of VEVO, a new music and video entertainment service, and YouTube. To support the metadata needs of those services and others, this person will need to work with various departments within Universal Music Group. At the label, the departments may include A&R, A&R Administration, Recording Administration, Business Affairs, Production and Creative Services and within UMG corporate it may involve contact with Royalties, Copyright, Studio Operations, Asset Management and various business partners. The process of collecting and verifying data may involve researching older catalog material in addition to new release data. The E-Commerce Integration Specialist will attend meetings related to metadata and/or video as necessary and will also be responsible for making a "final check" of information entered before it is sent to our business partners. Regular reporting via Excel or another application will be required to track the data entry progress. Requirements: Job Requirements: • Detailed knowledge of RMS/R2 • Familiarity with UMG’s E-commerce policies and procedures • Detail-oriented • A “client service” attitude • Communicates well with others and has diplomatic approach • Data entry computer skills • Ability to multitask • 1-2 years experience with label copy or metadata • 2-4 years music industry experience – preferably production, copyright, royalties, business affairs or related area
