Job Description: Universal Music Group is currently seeking a Manager of Accounting for the Universal City, CA location. Overview: This position is responsible for preparing and reviewing financial statements, conducting accounting processes, and ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions and reporting. Responsibilities: • Execute timely and accurate reporting of financial statements for Core business divisions and Production Music Library, including divisional P&L and Balance Sheets. • Directly responsible for the daily management of all accounting functions and Accounts Payable activities. • Maintenance and review of general ledger activities and perform month end close procedures to include reviews of revenues, expenses, inventory, expense allocation, and overhead. • Supervises balance sheet account maintenance and reconciliation, project cost accounting, inter-company billing and sub-ledger reconciliations. • Requires a thorough understanding of current accounting standards (GAAP and IFRS) and the ability to make decisions regarding the proper accounting for these transactions. • Completion of various Corporate and Statutory Reporting, Audit and Tax requests. • Support internal control activities as it relates to financial reporting (e.g., Sarbanes Oxley, Corporate policies) • Prepares ad-hoc analysis and other duties as assigned by Senior Director. Requirements: • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. CPA required. • 5 years general accounting and corporate reporting experience with solid accounting fundamentals. • Proficient in Excel, Word and familiar with financial reporting software. Additionally, requires a high degree of competence with computers to be able to upload and download information to and from the financial systems for additional manipulation. • J.D. Edwards and Hyperion Enterprise (or HFM) experience is helpful but not required. • Complete understanding of on-line accounting systems. Strong analytical skills; ability to make sound decisions based on information provided and understand the ramifications of each decision. • Ability to work independently and/or in a team-oriented environment. Ability to give direction to other accounting personnel regarding various financial transactions and accounting treatments. Additional ability to interact with other divisional offices to resolve questions, problems and/or requests for information. • Effective communication skills; requires the ability to communicate certain accounting policies and procedures and give direction to various contacts in order to complete the necessary responsibilities. • Professional attitude and ability to retain confidential information.
